How To Unlock Bootloader OnePlus 5

If you want to install a custom Rom, the first thing you need to know is unlocking the bootloader of your OnePlus 5. So if you are owning a OnePlus 5, you can easily do the bootloader unlocking route. But  before starting, you need to keep in mind that doing this will void the warranty of your device. Moreover,  there are also some certain requirements you should meet.

Requirements:

·        This guide is only meant for OnePlus 5

·        Enable USB Debugging as well as OEM Unlock in Settings > Developer Options.

·        Make a full backup of your important as the process might format all of your important data

·        Charge your phone to at least 50-60% battery to prevent the accidental shutdown in the process.

Steps to Unlock Bootloader on OnePlus 5

1.      First, you need to download Android SDK tool and fastboot driver from here

2.      Now plug the device to your PC via a USB cable and allow “Always allow from this computer” on your device screen.

3.      Go to android-sdk-windows\platform-tools directory to launch Command Prompt (Shift + Right-click to open it)

4.      Now, enter the bootloader or fastboot mode on your OnePlus 5 by entering adb reboot bootloader in cmd

5.      Get your Device ID by typing in fastboot oem unlock. The result will display your device’s region, and a screen might window with Chinese writing. Simply touch on the upper part to continue the process

6.      The phone will now reboot normally once its bootloader is unlocked. You can use Step 5 to boot your phone into fastboot mode and enter:

 fastboot oem device-info

If you see the line “(bootloader) Device unlocked: true, that means your OnePlus 5 has been successfully unlocked bootloader.

7.      Finally, you type in “fastboot reboot” to reboot your OnePlus 5. It will take some minutes for your phone to boot for the first time.
